Title: Georgia Department of Revenue and EPD Restore Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program
The Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) have announced the restoration of the Vehicle Emissions Inspection and Maintenance Program. Starting on Thursday, April 8, 2021, motorists will be able to obtain emissions tests. Emissions testing will be required for motorists needing to register or renew their vehicle registrations as of Friday, April 9, 2021.
Motorists who were granted an emissions test waiver for registering or renewing vehicles from March 31, 2021, to April 8, 2021, will not need to get an emissions test until their renewal period next year.
On March 30, 2021, EPD temporarily waived the emissions inspection requirement for vehicle registrations and renewals due to a system outage. The system communication between the vehicle emissions stations and the Department of Revenue is now fully restored.
